The difference between intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous injections

①The injection site is different

Intradermal injection is to inject a small amount of drug solution or biological product between the epidermis and dermis; subcutaneous injection is to inject a small amount of drug solution or biological product into subcutaneous tissue; intramuscular injection is to inject drug solution into muscle tissue; intravenous injection is to inject from intravenous Inject medicine.

②The purpose is different

Intradermal injection is used for drug allergy experiments; subcutaneous injection is to inject small doses of drugs, which are not suitable for oral administration but need to exert drug effect within a certain period of time; intramuscular injection is used for intravenous injection, which is not suitable or impossible, and requires more than subcutaneous injection. When the curative effect is quickly exerted; intravenous injection is used when oral, subcutaneous or intramuscular injection is not suitable or when the drug effect needs to be exerted rapidly.

③Different disinfection methods

The skin was disinfected with 75 percent ethanol for intradermal injection; subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous injections were routinely disinfected skin, and iodine swabs were disinfected twice.

④Needle insertion angle and depth are different

For intradermal injection, the needle is inserted at 5 degrees to the skin, and the bevel of the needle completely enters the skin; for subcutaneous injection, the needle is inserted at a degree of 30 to 40 degrees to the skin, and 1/2 to 2/3 of the needle stem penetrates into the subcutaneous; 2 to 2/3; intravenous injection and skin penetration at 15 to 30 degrees.

⑤ The operation is different after the needle is pulled out

Do not press the eye of the needle after the needle is pulled out for intradermal injection; after the needle is pulled out for subcutaneous injection, intramuscular injection and intravenous injection, it should be pressed with a sterile cotton swab until there is no bleeding;
